In 2010, I was a fitness instructor working with a client who felt invisible in their sport. We built a program that balanced physical training with mindset. After a particularly tough session, I told them I was proud of their work. They were visibly moved, admitting that no one had ever said that to them before.
That was the moment I stopped seeing myself as a trainer and started seeing myself as a coach. I’ve been obsessed with developing people ever since.
From Results to People
I took that mindset into the corporate world, leading teams to awards and high performance. But I quickly realized that while hitting KPIs is great, nothing compares to the “lightbulb moment”—that second when someone breaks through a mental barrier and finally sees their own potential.
To scale that impact, I moved into Learning & Development (L&D). I loved the strategy of helping an entire operation grow, but I missed the personal connection of one-on-one transformation.
Why Develop The Edge?
In 2019, I decided to bridge that gap. I began mentoring for a mental health charity and launched Develop The Edge. My goal is simple: to help people stop living on autopilot and start leading with purpose.
Whether you’re a seasoned leader looking to sharpen your skills or you’re feeling stuck in the daily grind, I’m here to tell you that progress is possible. It isn’t a “quick fix,” but it is worth the effort.
Let’s get to work. If you’re ready to challenge your barriers or need specific development resources, reach out at Connect@DevelopTheEdge.com.
